Story Synopsis:
Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal is a 2021 Tamil-language drama film directed by Priyadarshan and starring Ashok Selvan, Nivetha Pethuraj, and Ritu Varma in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the 1975 Tamil film of the same name, which was based on a novel by the same name written by Jayakanthan. The film was released on November 19, 2021, and received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
The movie revolves around the life of Prabhakar (played by Ashok Selvan), a successful journalist who leads a happy life with his wife Shruthi (played by Nivetha Pethuraj) and daughter. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he discovers that his wife is having an extramarital affair.
Initially shocked and hurt, Prabhakar confronts Shruthi about her infidelity, but she refuses to end the affair. He then meets several other women who share their own stories of being oppressed by men in their lives. As he listens to their stories, he begins to question his own patriarchal mindset and the societal norms that have conditioned him to believe that men are superior to women.
Through the course of the film, Prabhakar realizes the true extent of the pain and suffering that women have to endure due to gender discrimination and societal expectations. He also learns about the importance of empathy, understanding, and respect in relationships.
Meanwhile, Shruthi continues her affair with her lover, and Prabhakar decides to separate from her. However, he remains a devoted father to their daughter and strives to create a better future for her.
In the end, the film sends a strong message about the need to challenge patriarchal attitudes and create a more equal and just society. Ashok Selvan delivers a powerful performance as Prabhakar, and Nivetha Pethuraj and Ritu Varma shine in their respective roles. The film’s direction, cinematography, and music are top-notch and make for an emotionally resonant viewing experience.
